Doug Hyatt in an economist who, since 1994, has been providing litigation support to plaintiffs and defendants in civil disputes including professional liability, motor vehicle accidents, employment and industrial relations matters. He has also provided expert witness services for establishing to value of copyrights in music and reprography, as well as constitutional challenges and class actions. Doug regularly advises industry and government on a range of public policy issues. He has been qualified to give expert evidence in Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, at the Federal Court of Canada, the Copyright Board of Canada and in labour and family law arbitrations.
Doug earned a PhD from the University of Toronto in 1992 and also had a career as an academic economist and professor in addition to his extensive work in litigation. He currently holds the title of Professor Emeritus at the Rotman School of Management and Centre for Industrial Relations.
Doug has been awarded Professor of the Year in the Rotman School’s Executive MBA and Global Executive MBA programs. He was the recipient of the Morley Gunderson Prize for Outstanding Professional Achievement and the Roger Martin and Nancy Lang Award for Excellence in Teaching.
With his highly skilled team, Doug has built a suite of applications that enhance the timeliness and accuracy of the estimation of multiple heads of pecuniary damages.
