Managing Director
Neal Mizrahi specializes in business valuation and damages quantification and has over 20 years of experience in the field. His broad industry expertise encompasses extractive industries (oil and gas, mining, and minerals), construction, manufacturing, services, software, and various other sectors. Neal has extensive experience with tax disputes, expropriation matters, post-acquisition disputes, breach of contract and financial advisory matters.
Neal's experience spans clients across North America, South America, Asia, and Africa. He has provided expert testimony in international arbitration proceedings at venues such as the World Bank in Washington, DC, the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, and before the International Chamber of Commerce. His Canadian litigation experience includes testimony in the Federal Court of Canada, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, and the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta. Additionally, he has served as an independent expert determiner on valuation and financial matters.
Neal has been involved in numerous high-stakes disputes and valuation engagements. His expert testimony has been pivotal in reported Canadian decisions, including the case of NEP Canada ULC v. MEC OP LLC, where his insights on loss of opportunity contributed to a court-awarded $185 million in damages. In Juanita Mariano v. Her Majesty the Queen, his valuation evidence was instrumental in a case involving the largest tax shelter in Canadian history, affecting over $5 billion in charitable donations.
Neal holds the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) and Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) designations. Currently, Neal serves on the Professional Practice and Standards Committee of the CBV Institute, which sets the practice requirements and recommendations for its members.
In addition to his practice, Neal has significant experience in education and public speaking. He has been an adjunct faculty member at two Canadian universities, teaching accounting and valuation courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels for nearly a decade. He is also actively involved in the international arbitration community as a writer, instructor, and presenter, contributing to organizations such as the Foundation for International Arbitration Advocacy (FIAA) and the DELOS Remote Oral Advocacy Programme.
Since 2014, Neal has been consistently recognized by Lexology (formerly Who's Who Legal) across various categories as a top expert, both globally and within Canada. He has been honored as a Global Elite Thought Leader in Arbitration, placing him in the top 5% of selected professionals worldwide. Additionally, Neal received the prestigious Lexology Client Choice Award for Arbitration in 2024 and 2025, an accolade awarded to only one arbitration expert in Canada each year.
Prior to Soriano Mizrahi de Gray Inc., Neal was an Equity Partner at a Big 4 accounting firm. Previously, he led the Canadian Valuation and Economic Damages practice at a major international consulting firm.
