Managing Director
Peter is an expert in business valuation, damages quantification and financial investigations. Peter is known for delivering clear, practical, and well-supported opinions on complex financial matters. He is particularly experienced in disputes involving closely held and family-owned businesses. He works closely with counsel and clients to simplify complex issues and provide analysis that is both technically rigorous and understandable to courts and other decision-makers. Peter also advises family enterprises on governance, succession planning, and wealth transition, helping families address conflict constructively and preserve long-term family relationships.
Peter has experience across a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, distribution, technology, professional services, intellectual property, and real estate. His clients include privately held businesses, public companies, government agencies, regional municipalities, and public sector organizations.
Peter has testified as an expert witness before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, including the Commercial List, as well as in arbitration proceedings. His evidence has been accepted in matters involving business valuation, damages quantification, forensic accounting, family law, and estate disputes. He has also acted as a jointly retained expert in financial and valuation disputes.
Peter’s expert evidence has been referenced in several reported Canadian decisions, including Behold Control Equipment Inc. v. Race Mechanical Systems Inc. involving damages from misuse of confidential information, Giacomodonato v. PearTree Securities Inc. dealing with damages from the termination of an employment contract with a variable compensation component, and Virc v. Blair which involved a valuation dispute in which the Court found that the husband misrepresented his financial assets and failed to disclose material information.
Peter holds the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA), Chartered Business Valuator (CBV), Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF), and Family Enterprise Advisor (FEA) designations, as well as an MBA from the University of Toronto.
He frequently speaks and has been the course leader for continuing education programs for lawyers and accountants, including programs offered through the Law Society of Ontario.
Prior to Soriano Mizrahi de Gray Inc., Peter was a Managing Director at a leading boutique valuations and corporate restructuring firm. Peter began his career at a Big Four accounting firm and has also practiced in this area at several other valuation and accounting firms.
